Newborn Session Information
Your newborn is growing and changing everyday and his/her features will only be this tiny for a few short weeks. These images will become priceless keepsakes for you to treasure always. Here are some tips to help make your session run successfully.
Please make sure to give your baby a full feeding right before the session. If you are nursing a full feeding is 20 min per breast. Please keep in mind that your baby will need to eat more the day of the session. This is the most activity he/she has had since birth. Please note, that if your baby is hungry I will not be able to get any pictures either awake or asleep. Pumped or supplement bottles are recommended for the day of the session to allow more time to photograph the baby. A hungry and rooting baby will not let me pose him or her at all.
A pacifier is strongly encouraged for session day. This is very helpful to soothe baby while we transisiton from pose to pose. Many babies will wake during posing and often using their nautral soothing reflex to suck, will help ease them back to sleep. If baby does not need it, we won’t need to use it.
We love being able to photograph sibling relationships! However, due to the length of a newborn session and the large equipment in the studio, we ask that you bring siblings to the studio with you at the beginning of the session and then make arrangements to have Dad or another family take them for a snack or some other fun activity outside of the studio. For their safety we can not have young toddlers/children in the studio after we have completed the family images. Please speak with me if you have any questions, as this is an important policy of the studio and one that I can not make exceptions to.
Please remember that every baby is unique with his or her own personality. Every baby is posed with patience and care, but please keep in mind I do not force a baby into a pose. Therefore I can not guarantee any poses. Ultimately your baby and older children (for sibling poses) are in control. If the baby is not cooperating during the session, please remain calm. He will sense your frustration and feed off of you.
Lastly, there is NO photography allowed in the studio. This includes cell phone videos and or pictures. You have hired me to capture your little one and I promise I won’t miss a thing!
